My laptop's hard drive fried... again. I had recently backed up, so I wasn't too devastated, but I'm missing a few things that I just can't let myself dwell on... or it'll make me scream, especially since summer hours are slipping into the past. I don't know if I can rewrite those pieces at this point.
I was sans this appendage for two whole days. I had phantom limb syndrome.
It's like when the electricity goes out, but each time you walk into a room, you switch on the light. I tried to write on the desktop, but I couldn't. I needed my particular spaces and nooks.

Anyway...
I miss fiction this summer. I've been reading so many expository texts. I just found this clip from one of my favorite authors:

Stand on the top of a cliff, and jump off, and build your wings on the way down.

Love what you do, and do what you love.     -Ray Bradbury

Sooo...I finally got around to watching the video. Thanks! I love Bradbury's point of view and the words he uses to communicate his love of books. I am in search of that t-shirt! I want it!

I was particularly struck my his story of his "bag of dimes". How powerfully simplistic and lovely is the thought of sitting in a room filled with the music of flying typewriter keys! Search number 2 - a space which can be rented with a bag of dimes.

I am happy to report that I have read some good fiction this summer; became acquainted with authors, who are new to me. I am still on the waiting list for Aimee Bender's book! I think some people are keeping the book for two check-outs! Don't they know I'm quite anxious to read that book?!?!?!?

I watched that Tony Robins show. I find Tony exceedingly cheesy, yet compellingly provocative at the same time. (I guess that makes him complex?) Two things he said continue to resonate with me: "Exceed your expectations" and "Change your belief system". Let's do it dear friend! I'm on your side-fried laptop or no! :)
